Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, resident-centered personal care including bathing, dressing, and toileting assistance
- Support daily living activities (ADLs) to maintain dignity and independence
- Take and document vital signs accurately and report any changes to the nursing team
- Assist with safe transfers and mobility, using proper body mechanics and equipment
- Observe and communicate behavioral or health changes to licensed nursing staff promptly
- Maintain a clean, safe environment and follow infection control protocols
- Chart care activities clearly and timely, contributing to continuity of care
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to promote resident comfort and quality of life
Qualifications
- Active GNA (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) certification required
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or willingness to obtain
- Previous experience in long-term care or geriatrics is a plus but not mandatory
- Ability to pass background check and drug screening as required by the facility
- Reliable, compassionate, and able to work independently during night shifts
Education
- High school diploma or GED; GNA certification required
Knowledge & Skills
- Skilled in assisting with ADLs and personal care for older adults
- Comfortable taking and documenting vital signs and resident observations
- Knowledge of infection control practices and safe transfer techniques
- Good communication skills for interacting with residents, families, and team members
- Strong observational skills and ability to escalate clinical changes appropriately
- Team player mindset with a focus on resident dignity and respect
