Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour shifts (7:00 AM - 7:00 PM and 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM), rotating schedule with every-other-weekend requirement and every-other-holiday; 12-hour orientation shifts (two 12-hour shifts during first week).

Roles & Responsibilities

• Monitor and manage adult and geriatric med/telemetry patients, including cardiac cath and EP study patients
• Interpret EKG strips and respond to rhythm changes quickly and confidently
• Safely titrate and manage common drips (Amio, Cardizem, Heparin, Nitro, Nipride, Lasix, low-dose Dopamine)
• Provide PCU/stepdown level care and act as a clinical resource on the unit
• Troubleshoot respiratory support (BiPAP, trach care, high-flow Airvo) and collaborate with RTs
• Document accurate, timely patient care in EPIC and communicate changes to interdisciplinary team
• Support patient flow, assist with admissions/discharges and float to needed areas when required
• Work as part of the nursing team to maintain safe nurse:patient ratios and deliver compassionate care

Qualifications

• Current RN license (ND) or compact RN eligible — active, in good standing
• BLS and ACLS required (certifications must be current)
• Minimum ~2 years med/tele or PCU experience preferred (demonstrated telemetry/cardio experience required)
• Comfortable reading and interpreting EKG strips independently
• Experience titrating IV drips and managing stepdown/PCU-level patients
• Familiarity with EPIC charting preferred
• Ability to work rotating 12-hour shifts, every-other-weekend and float as needed

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) — BSN not required
• Completion of unit-specific orientation (two 12-hour shifts) prior to independent practice

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry and cardiac monitoring interpretation
• EKG/strip reading and rapid rhythm recognition
• IV drip titration and medication management
• PCU/stepdown acute cardiac care and post-cath/EP patient management
• Respiratory troubleshooting: BiPAP, trach care, high-flow oxygen (Airvo)
• Critical thinking, strong assessment skills and teamwork
• Electronic charting in EPIC and professional communication
