Registered Nurse - Labor & Delivery
Location: Bismarck, North Dakota

Contract Type: Travel Contract
Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour shifts: 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM and 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM, rotation includes every-third weekend and as-needed holidays; schedule posted 6 weeks in advance (nights emphasized / EOW nights)
Hours per Week: 36
Candidate Pay Rate: $81 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide exceptional labor, delivery, recovery and postpartum care for obstetric patients, maintaining AWHONN standards
- Perform continuous fetal monitoring and interpret tracings to guide safe clinical decisions
- Titrate and manage common drips (pitocin, magnesium, occasional insulin) and respond to hemorrhage protocols
- Assist and scrub for C-sections and surgical cases when needed, collaborating with OB and anesthesia teams
- Deliver neonatal resuscitation and immediate newborn care per NRP and STABLE guidelines
- Triage obstetric patients, manage bay flow, and respond to variations in acuity
- Document thoroughly in EPIC to ensure continuity of care and accurate charting
- Float to specialty units as required and act as a resource for less-experienced staff when appropriate
Qualifications
- Current RN license (state of practice) and active, unrestricted nursing license
- Minimum 3 years experience in LDRP / Labor & Delivery required
- BLS and NRP required; AWHONN Intermediate fetal monitoring required (AWHONN Advanced preferred)
- STABLE certification preferred or demonstrated neonatal stabilization experience
- Comfort and competence with drip titration and common obstetric medications
- Ability to scrub/assist in OR for C-sections and other surgical procedures
- Experience with EPIC charting preferred
- Willingness to float to NICU, pediatrics, med/surg or other units as needed
Education
- Associate Degree in Nursing or Nursing Diploma accepted; BSN not required
Knowledge & Skills
- Proficient in fetal monitoring and electronic fetal monitoring systems (GE/Corometrics familiarity helpful)
- Neonatal resuscitation skills and immediate newborn stabilization (NRP, STABLE)
- Skilled in IV medication administration, drip titration, and hemorrhage management (TXA, methergine, hemabate, cytotec)
- Ability to place telemetry/monitoring patches correctly and read tele strips when required
- Strong triage assessment skills and the ability to prioritize in a busy L&D/Postpartum environment
- Comfortable scrubbing/assisting in surgical cases and working in a perioperative setting
