Roles & Responsibilities

• Interpret cardiac telemetry and sign rhythm strips at least once per shift to ensure timely cardiac care
• Provide compassionate, evidence-based nursing care for telemetry and medical/surgical patients (CHF, respiratory, GI, diabetics, post-cath, total joint replacement)
• Administer and monitor set-rate drips (e.g., Diltiazem/Cardizem) per unit protocols and collaborate with the care team
• Perform thorough patient assessments, document in Cerner, and communicate changes to the interdisciplinary team
• Support team operations by floating to East Campus or PCU when qualified, maintaining continuity of care
• Participate in unit safety and quality initiatives to improve patient outcomes

Qualifications

• Active RN license eligible for practice in Arizona (License to submit: Yes)
• Minimum ~2 years clinical nursing experience (per job posting)
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Ability to pass a dysrhythmia exam (must score 80% within two attempts prior to contract start)
• Comfortable reading basic telemetry strips and prior exposure to CVA/TIA patients preferred
• Cerner experience recommended (orientation is brief — one day on charting system)
• Willingness to float to other units (East Campus, PCU) if needed

Education

• Active RN license (BSN not required)

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry monitoring and rhythm interpretation
• Cardiac and medical-surgical nursing principles (CHF, post-cath care, total joint postop care)
• Familiarity with Cerner electronic health record
• Basic ventilatory support knowledge (BiPAP, CPAP, breathing treatments)
• Strong assessment, prioritization, and communication skills
• Comfort working 12-hour night shifts and collaborating with monitor techs, charge nurses and supervisors
