Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide safe, high-quality nursing care to progressive care (PCU) adults, including cardiac med/surg, post-stent and post-pacer patients
• Titrate and manage common drips such as heparin, nitro, dopamine, cardizem, amiodarone, and insulin with precision
• Care for patients with arterial lines and demonstrate competency in monitoring and troubleshooting
• Read and interpret telemetry strips and collaborate with monitor techs for patient safety
• Troubleshoot and manage high-flow respiratory equipment and work with respiratory therapists as needed
• Collaborate with charge nurses, patient care techs, and interdisciplinary team members to optimize patient experience
• Document accurately in EPIC and communicate medication and care plans clearly to patients and families

Qualifications

• Active RN license eligible for practice in Nebraska
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience (PCU, med/surg, stepdown, or critical care preferred)
• Competency with arterial lines and titratable drips required
• Driver's license required at time of submission (used to verify radius rule)
• Ability to pass an open-book orientation exam with a 90% score (Wednesday exam during orientation)
• Willingness to float to MedSurg or ICU as needed and to work every-other-weekend and required holidays

Education

• Active RN license in good standing (BSN not required)

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry interpretation and cardiac rhythm recognition
• Management of vasoactive and titratable drips
• Familiarity with arterial line monitoring and troubleshooting
• Experience with high-flow oxygen therapies and basic ventilator troubleshooting
• Strong communication, teamwork, and cultural competency (serves diverse populations)
• Proficiency with EPIC or similar electronic health record systems
• Ability to maintain patient-focused care and improve patient experience scores
