Roles & Responsibilities

• Decontaminate, inspect, assemble, and sterilize surgical instruments and trays to ensure patient safety
• Operate and monitor sterilization equipment and validate sterilization cycles with accurate documentation
• Perform quality checks on instruments and report or remove defective items to maintain surgical readiness
• Maintain inventory levels and restock sterile supplies so clinical teams have what they need, when they need it
• Collaborate with perioperative and clinical staff to prioritize case sets and support efficient turnover
• Follow infection control, safety protocols, and facility policies to protect patients and staff

Qualifications

• CBSPB or HSPA (formerly IAHCSMM) certification required
• Experience working as a Sterile Processing Technician or in Central Sterile preferred
• Able to work evening/night shifts and participate in a weekend rotation (one weekend every 4 weeks)
• Reliable, detail-oriented, and able to follow strict sterilization and safety procedures

Knowledge & Skills

• Familiarity with sterilization methods and instruments used in surgical settings
• Strong attention to detail and ability to perform consistent quality inspections
• Basic documentation and logging skills for sterilization cycles and inventory tracking
• Good communication and teamwork skills to coordinate with surgical and clinical staff
• Time management and the ability to prioritize in a fast-paced perioperative environment
