Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess patients’ respiratory status and develop effective care plans
• Manage ventilators and provide critical respiratory support
• Perform airway management, suctioning, and aerosolized medication treatments
• Interpret arterial blood gases and adjust therapy as indicated
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes
• Educate patients and families on respiratory care and home therapy
• Document care accurately and maintain compliance with clinical protocols

Qualifications

• Valid Vermont Respiratory Therapist license or eligibility to obtain state licensure
• CRT or RRT credential (registry preferred)
• Current BLS required; ACLS and PALS preferred when applicable
• Comfortable with ventilator management, suctioning, and emergent airway interventions
• Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays as required
• Strong teamwork and communication skills in high-acuity environments

Education

• Associate’s degree in Respiratory Therapy or completion of an accredited RT program
• Bachelor’s in Respiratory Therapy or related field is a plus

Knowledge & Skills

• Mechanical ventilator management and weaning strategies
• Arterial blood gas (ABG) interpretation
• Oxygen therapy, aerosolized medication delivery, and airway care
• Infection control practices and patient safety protocols
• Electronic medical record (EMR) documentation and charting
• Calm, quick decision-making in critical situations
