Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality respiratory care and life-sustaining interventions for patients across acuity levels
• Assess patient respiratory status and develop appropriate treatment plans in collaboration with the care team
• Manage ventilators, oxygen therapy, aerosolized medications, and other respiratory equipment safely and effectively
• Perform diagnostic testing such as arterial blood gases and document findings accurately in the medical record
• Educate patients and families on respiratory care plans, equipment use, and disease management
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and allied health professionals to optimize patient outcomes

Qualifications

• Active RRT (Registered Respiratory Therapist) or CRT (Certified Respiratory Therapist) credential preferred
• Eligible for or holding an active state respiratory therapy license (Georgia) — licensure assistance available
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; ACLS/NRP a plus depending on unit
• Previous acute care or hospital experience preferred, especially with ventilator management
• Strong clinical judgment, excellent communication skills, and a team-first attitude

Education

• Associate degree in Respiratory Therapy or related field from an accredited program
• Completion of a respiratory care credentialing program (RRT/CRT)

Knowledge & Skills

• Ventilator management and weaning protocols
• Arterial blood gas interpretation and respiratory assessment
• Oxygen delivery systems, aerosolized medication administration, and airway management
• Clinical documentation in electronic medical records
• Patient and family education with compassionate bedside manner
