Roles & Responsibilities

Provide compassionate, patient-centered nursing care in the Step-Down Unit
Continuously monitor and assess patients' condition and respond to changes
Administer medications and therapies safely and accurately
Collaborate with physicians, therapists and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate care
Document assessments, interventions and patient responses in the medical record
Educate patients and families about care plans, procedures and discharge instructions
Act promptly in emergent situations and escalate concerns per unit protocol

Qualifications

Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Louisiana or valid compact RN license
Current BLS certification required; ACLS preferred or required per facility policy
Experience caring for intermediate/step-down or telemetry patients preferred
Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking and communication skills
Ability to pass background check and meet facility onboarding requirements

Education

Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

Familiarity with cardiac monitoring and telemetry interpretation
Skilled in IV therapy, medication administration and post-procedural monitoring
Proficient clinical documentation and time-management skills
Comfortable working as part of an interdisciplinary healthcare team
Adaptability in a fast-paced clinical environment and sound clinical judgment
