Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, patient-centered nursing care in the step-down unit
• Monitor and assess clinical status, including cardiac monitoring and hemodynamic changes
• Administer medications and IV therapies safely and accurately
• Collaborate with physicians and the interdisciplinary team to implement care plans
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments, and discharge plans
• Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses in the medical record
• Respond promptly to patient needs and clinical emergencies with professionalism

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Louisiana (required)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) preferred
• Comfortable with cardiac monitoring, titratable drips, and post-acute/step-down care
• Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
• Ability to work 12.5-hour shifts and adapt to unit scheduling needs

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficiency with cardiac/telemetry monitoring and recognition of arrhythmias
• Solid IV therapy and medication administration skills
• Excellent patient assessment, prioritization, and clinical judgment
• Clear communication and teamwork in multidisciplinary settings
• Accurate clinical documentation and time management
