Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate pre-operative nursing care to pediatric patients
- Assess and document patient status and pre-op readiness clearly and timely
- Collaborate with surgical teams, anesthesiology, and family members to ensure smooth handoffs
- Educate caregivers and patients on pre-op instructions and expectations
- Prepare patients physically and emotionally for procedures with empathy and professionalism
- Participate in orientation and unit-based training to maintain high standards of care
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (Missouri licensure required or ability to obtain)
- Experience or interest in pre-op and pediatric nursing (Peds) settings
- Comfort working in a fast-paced surgical/procedural environment
- Willingness to complete facility orientation and required training
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong pediatric assessment and communication skills
- Ability to educate and support families during pre-operative visits
- Attention to detail with documentation and pre-op checklists
- Teamwork-oriented approach and effective collaboration with multidisciplinary teams
