Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, family-centered pre-operative nursing care for pediatric patients
• Conduct focused pre-op assessments and communicate findings clearly to the surgical team
• Prepare children and caregivers for procedures through age-appropriate education and reassurance
• Document assessments and interventions in the patient record accurately and promptly
• Collaborate with perioperative staff and anesthesia to ensure safe handoffs and continuity of care
• Adhere to facility policies, pediatric safety protocols, and infection control standards

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Ohio (or compact RN license if applicable)
• Pediatric nursing experience preferred; pre-op/perioperative experience a plus
• Current BLS required; PALS and perioperative certifications are a plus
• Comfort working with children and their families in a procedural setting
• Ability to complete orientation and follow facility onboarding requirements

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Understanding of pediatric pre-operative assessment and safety practices
• Strong communication and family education skills
• Comfortable with pediatric vital signs, medication administration, and documentation
• Ability to work collaboratively with surgical, anesthesia, and nursing teams
• Attention to detail and the ability to prioritize in a fast-paced setting
