Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess, monitor and provide compassionate care for adult and geriatric patients on a 35-bed PCU/stepdown unit
• Titrate and manage IV drips safely (including Cardizem, beta blockers and seizure meds) following unit protocols
• Maintain continuous telemetry and EEG monitoring, recognizing and escalating changes in patient status
• Accurately document patient care and clinical decision-making in EPIC
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team and float to medical floors, ICU or rehab as needed
• Prioritize patient safety and unit flow while working within nursing ratios (1:4-5)
• Demonstrate critical thinking and effective communication to solve problems and support colleagues

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) licensure (required for submission)
• BLS, ACLS and NIHSS certifications required
• Driver's license required at submittal (used to confirm radius eligibility)
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience preferred/required
• Comfort with 12-hour shifts and a rotating weekend/holiday schedule
• Ability to pass an open-book orientation skills exam (90% required) and adhere to facility policies (e.g., no artificial nails)

Education

• Active RN licensure required; BSN not required

Knowledge & Skills

• EPIC charting and electronic documentation best practices
• Telemetry and continuous EEG monitoring interpretation
• IV drip titration and medication management for cardiac and neuro patients
• Clinical assessment of cardiac, nephrology and stroke populations
• Strong critical thinking, communication and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and support team-based care
