Candidate Pay Rate: $54 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities

Provide compassionate post-anesthesia care to pediatric patients in the PACU
Monitor vital signs, airway status, and recovery progress, responding quickly to changes
Assess and manage pain and comfort interventions appropriate for each child
Collaborate closely with anesthesia, surgical teams, and nursing staff for safe handoffs
Document patient assessments, interventions, and discharge instructions accurately in the EHR
Educate families on post-operative care and safe discharge planning
Participate in required orientation and ongoing training to maintain best practices

Qualifications

Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Missouri or compact RN eligible for Missouri practice
Experience in PACU nursing; pediatric PACU experience is highly desirable
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) preferred
Strong assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced perioperative environment
Willingness to participate in orientation and competency training as required

Education

Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

Pediatric post-anesthesia recovery and monitoring
Airway management and recognition of respiratory compromise
IV therapy, medication administration, and pain management
Perioperative workflows and effective surgical team communication
Accurate EHR documentation and charting practices
Infection prevention, patient safety, and discharge education
