Shift Type: Monday-Friday, 6:45 AM - 3:15 PM or 9:00 AM - 5:30 PM (8-hour day shifts); rotating on-call responsibilities: weeknight on-call 3:15 PM - 6:45 AM (1-2 times per week) and weekend on-call rotation approximately every 3-4 weeks (Fri 3:15 PM - Mon 6:45 AM); rotating day/night with on-call and weekend coverage required

Hours per Week: 40

Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert perioperative nursing care for patients undergoing general, robotics, ortho and neuro procedures
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, techs and the perioperative team to ensure safe, efficient case flow
• Assist and monitor during robotic cases (Davinci Xi, ION) and open belly surgeries, ensuring adherence to sterile technique
• Perform EPIC charting and accurate documentation of perioperative assessments and interventions
• Float across specialties as needed to support case volume and provide 1:1 sitter/helping-hands coverage when required
• Respond to on-call situations within the facility’s 15-minute response expectation and support post-call reprieve practices

Qualifications

• Active RN license in good standing (state licensure required)
• BLS certification (required)
• Minimum 3 years of OR nursing experience (must have either Ortho/Neuro OR General/Robotics experience)
• Experience with open belly cases, GYN, endoscopy/scope experience and/or robotics (Davinci Xi, ION) strongly preferred
• Familiarity with EPIC or similar EMR for perioperative charting
• Willingness to float to other specialties and perform 1:1 sitter duties as needed
• Ability to meet on-call response time (15 minutes) and participate in weekend/holiday rotations

Education

• Associate Degree or Diploma in Nursing (BSN not required)
• Active RN license
• BLS certification (required)
• Unit-specific orientation: hospital orientation (3-4 days) + unit orientation (4-5 days) and 2 buddy call shifts

Knowledge & Skills

• Perioperative nursing principles and sterile processing
• Robotic systems: Davinci Xi and ION familiarity
• Endoscopy and GI scope workflow and patient prep/post-op care
• Orthopedic and neuro surgical case knowledge (total joints, spinal fusions, arthroscopy, crani procedures)
• Proficient EPIC charting and documentation
• Use and setup of OR equipment such as Stryker towers
• Strong communication, teamwork and patient advocacy skills
