Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, patient-centered oncology nursing care on a 24-bed unit, delivering safe and effective treatments
• Administer medications and chemotherapy per facility policy (Chemo Certification preferred) and monitor patients for reactions
• Perform and assist with procedures such as pelvic exams, echoes and thoracenteses under unit protocols
• Document assessments, interventions and patient progress accurately in Cerner EMR
• Manage patient assignments with a 1:4–1:5 ratio, prioritizing acuity and safety
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (CNCs, CNAs, HUCs, physicians) to coordinate care and transitions
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments and discharge plans with empathy and clarity
• Follow unit guidelines and hospital policies while contributing positively to unit culture and teamwork

Qualifications

• Active RN license (required)
• Minimum 2 years of recent nursing experience (as indicated)
• BLS certification (required)
• Oncology experience or med-surg experience strongly preferred
• Chemo certification preferred — candidates with this will be considered first
• Comfort and/or experience with pelvic exams, cardiac echo, and thoracentesis is a plus
• Familiarity with Cerner EMR strongly preferred
• Team player attitude, willingness to learn, and flexibility to work scheduled weekends

Education

• Active RN license required

Knowledge & Skills

• Oncology and med-surgical nursing principles
• Chemotherapy administration and monitoring (preferred)
• IV therapy and medication administration safety
• Proficiency with Cerner electronic medical record documentation
• Patient assessment, monitoring and escalation of care
• Procedure assistance (pelvic exams, echo, thoracentesis)
• Strong communication, patient education and teamwork skills
• Ability to function in a fast-paced unit with 1:4–1:5 patient ratios
