Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, high-quality nursing care to adult and geriatric oncology patients on a 36-bed Med Surg Oncology unit
• Monitor continuous cardiac telemetry and interpret dysrhythmias related to chemotherapy administration
• Administer and manage IV therapy including IV starts, PICC/central line care, arterial line management, and blood product administration
• Assist with specialty procedures when needed, such as chest tube insertion/removal and high-flow nasal cannula management
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team (PT, RT, Pharmacy, Social Services, Radiology) to create and execute patient-centered care plans
• Follow strict infection prevention protocols and fall-reduction strategies to keep patients safe
• Document thoroughly and accurately in EPIC, ensuring continuity of care and clear communication with patients and families
• Provide symptom management, education, and support for patients undergoing chemotherapy and other oncology treatments

Qualifications

• Current RN license (Ohio) — you must be authorized to practice in-state
• Minimum 2 years RN experience required (experience must be within the last 3 years); at least 1 year of current specialty experience required for clinical pass
• BLS (BCLS) certification required
• EPIC charting experience required
• Comfortable with a 1:4 patient ratio and floating to MedSurg Oncology units of equivalent or lower acuity
• Oncology experience preferred but not required
• Flu vaccine required (medical exemptions only); COVID-19 vaccine not required per facility guideline
• Willingness to learn, grow your nursing practice, and work collaboratively with the team

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry monitoring and interpretation of dysrhythmias
• Cardiac monitoring and emergency response
• IV therapy, starting and maintaining IVs, phlebotomy
• Central line and PICC line care and management
• Arterial line management and ABG interpretation
• Blood product administration
• High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC) and experience with BiPAP/CPAP
• Tracheostomy care and respiratory support skills
• Administration of chemotherapy (preferred)
• Proficiency with EPIC and use of unit equipment (B450 GE telemetry, bladder scanner, Alaris pumps, Stryker beds)
