Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide one-to-one labor support and manage active labor cases with confidence and clinical skill
• Care for postpartum patients (typical ratio 1:3) including lactation support and discharge teaching
• Perform fetal monitoring (external and internal), recognize abnormal fetal heart rate patterns, and act promptly
• Respond to emergencies and participate on Rapid Response/Code teams, including neonatal resuscitation
• Assist and circulate for vaginal deliveries, vacuum/forceps deliveries and C-sections as needed
• Start and maintain IVs, administer blood and blood products, and manage infusion pumps/drips
• Chart accurately and timely in Epic to ensure continuity of care and clear communication
• Float between units as needed, providing high-quality patient care across maternal-child settings

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license — pending licensure considered per posting (PEND LIC noted)
• Manager prefers at least 2 years of Labor & Delivery experience; will consider 1 to 1.5 years if experience was on a high-risk/high-census L&D unit
• Proficiency with fetal monitoring (EFM/IFT/IUPC) and neonatal resuscitation (NRP)
• BLS required; NRP and AWHONN Advanced and STABLE are highly preferred
• Experience charting in Epic (required)
• Comfort working 1:1 labor and 1:3 postpartum ratios
• Must have reliable vehicle for assignment and potential floating to nearby facilities

Education

• Registered Nurse (RN) — active license preferred; pending RN licensure noted as acceptable per requisition

Knowledge & Skills

• Labor & Delivery and LDRP clinical skills, including sterile vaginal exams and triage of obstetrical patients
• Postpartum care, breastfeeding support, episiotomy and wound care
• Newborn care in the delivery room: APGARs, radiant warmer use, cord sampling and ID banding
• Fetal monitoring, spiral electrode and IUPC placement and interpretation
• Neonatal resuscitation and infant stabilization in the delivery room
• IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration, and infusion pump management
• Assist with C-sections, forceps/vacuum deliveries, and high-risk delivery management
• Recognition and care of common obstetric diagnoses (pre-eclampsia, gestational diabetes, TOLAC/VBAC management)
