Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, evidence-based care to patients in labor, delivery, and the immediate postpartum period
• Monitor maternal and fetal status using appropriate assessment tools and intervene as needed
• Assist with labor management and deliveries, collaborating closely with obstetric providers and the multidisciplinary team
• Perform timely, accurate documentation of patient care and clinical changes in the medical record
• Educate and support patients and families through labor, delivery and early postpartum care
• Respond to emergent situations calmly and effectively, following unit protocols and escalation pathways

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Louisiana or a valid compact RN license
• Previous experience in Labor & Delivery preferred
• Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required; NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) or equivalent highly preferred
• Strong assessment skills, critical thinking, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced OB unit
• Ability to work 12+ hour shifts and adapt to varied scheduling needs

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) — BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Fetal monitoring (intermittent and electronic fetal monitoring/EFM) and maternal assessment
• Labor support techniques and familiarity with common obstetric procedures
• Neonatal initial assessment and basic resuscitation knowledge
• IV therapy, medication administration, and titration per protocol
• Clear, compassionate communication with patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams
• Proficiency with electronic medical records and accurate clinical documentation
