Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, evidence-based nursing care to laboring patients and their families
• Perform continuous maternal and fetal monitoring and respond promptly to changes in condition
• Assist with labor support, delivery procedures, and immediate newborn care
• Collaborate closely with obstetricians, midwives, anesthesia, and neonatal teams to coordinate care
• Document assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately in the medical record
• Educate patients and families about labor progress, delivery plans, and postpartum care
• Participate in unit quality improvement, safety initiatives, and emergency response drills

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse license in Louisiana required
• Current BLS required; NRP and ACLS are a plus or preferred
• Previous experience in Labor and Delivery is preferred and will make you shine
• Comfortable working 12.5-hour clinical shifts and functioning well in fast-paced situations
• Strong communication and teamwork skills to coordinate multidisciplinary care
• Current immunizations and ability to pass background checks as required by the facility

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN). BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Fetal monitoring interpretation and intrapartum assessment
• Labor support techniques and delivery assistance
• Newborn initial assessment and stabilization basics
• Medication administration and labor analgesia familiarity
• Accurate clinical documentation and electronic medical record use
• Ability to prioritize, multitask, and remain calm in emergent situations
