Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide safe, evidence-based labor and delivery care: assess, monitor, and support birthing patients through labor, delivery, and immediate postpartum
• Perform Neonatal Resuscitation (NRP) at deliveries and stabilize newborns for transfer to higher-level care when necessary
• Interpret and act on fetal monitoring (AWHONN Advanced EFM) to support healthy outcomes
• Titrate IV drips (including Pitocin) per orders and monitor maternal response
• Collaborate with OB, neonatology, anesthesia, and respiratory therapy to coordinate timely, high-quality care
• Manage mother/baby couplets, including postpartum care and infant stabilization in the unit’s NICU when needed
• Document thoroughly and accurately in Cerner to ensure continuity of care
• Step into charge or float roles when needed and support staffing operations with professionalism

Qualifications

• Active RN license (eligible to work in California)
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NRP, AWHONN Advanced Fetal Monitoring
• Minimum: 1 year of Labor & Delivery (LDRP) experience required; 3 years preferred in similar settings
• OR circulating experience required for candidates applying to L&D-only roles; candidates with only postpartum experience will not be accepted
• Comfortable performing NRP at delivery (no in-house pediatric coverage) and titrating drips
• Ability to work nights, weekends, rotate holidays, and accept floating assignments across Sacramento facilities
• Must meet Medical Solutions prescreen requirements and reference checks (2 supervisory references on submittal; timing requirements apply)
• Not employed by any facility associated with CommonSpirit (including CHI and/or Dignity) within the last 12 months

Education

• Active RN license required
• BSN not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Labor & Delivery (LDRP) clinical expertise
• Mother/Baby care and management of mother/baby couplets
• Neonatal Resuscitation (NRP) proficiency
• Advanced fetal monitoring (AWHONN Advanced EFM) interpretation
• ACLS and BLS skills for maternal emergencies
• IV drip titration experience (including Pitocin)
• Familiarity with Cerner charting and Fetalink EFM system
• Experience with ventilator/CPAP/BiPAP support and collaborating with respiratory therapy
• Experience with twin deliveries, NST/antepartum testing, and managing common OB diagnoses
