Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality critical care to adult and geriatric patients in a Level II Trauma short-term acute care setting
• Manage ventilated patients and BiPAP/CPAP therapy with attention to ARDS and respiratory mechanics
• Interpret arterial blood gases (ABGs) and titrate respiratory and hemodynamic therapies accordingly
• Monitor cardiac rhythms, interpret dysrhythmias, and manage emergency cardiac responses
• Administer and manage IV therapy, arterial lines, and central lines with strict aseptic technique
• Titrate continuous IV sedation and vasoactive/cardiac drips safely and precisely
• Apply isolation precautions and PPE consistently to protect patients and staff
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and float between units to ensure continuity of care

Qualifications

• Current RN license in Texas (or compact license as applicable)
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience (critical care/ICU experience strongly preferred)
• Epic charting experience required
• ACLS and BLS required; NIHSS preferred
• Comfort with 12-hour night shifts and floating between units
• Strong assessment skills for multisystem organ dysfunction and neurological patients

Knowledge & Skills

• Epic electronic charting
• Ventilator management and care of ventilated patients
• BiPAP/CPAP management
• Interpretation of ABGs
• Cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation & management
• Titration of vasoactive and cardiac drips; continuous IV sedation
• IV therapy, arterial line and central line management
• Suctioning (ETT/NT) and respiratory care procedures
• Isolation Precautions/PPE and infection control
• Neuro-specific skills: CVA/acute stroke care, EVD handling, ICP monitoring, post-craniotomy/neurosurgery care
• ACLS, BLS, NIHSS clinical application
