Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide safe, high-quality peri-procedural nursing care for GI/endoscopy patients
• Assist physicians and techs during procedures including EGD, colonoscopy, ERCP and sigmoidoscopy
• Perform and assist with biopsies, PEGs and bleeding control interventions when needed
• Document patient care accurately and timely in Cerner to ensure continuity of care
• Participate in call coverage and respond to variable call windows including nights and weekends
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate patient flow and acute care interventions
• Support unit needs by floating to Short Stay as required and helping maintain room readiness

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (eligible to submit)
• Required certifications: ACLS (AHA), BLS (AHA), PALS (AHA)
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience (acute care/GI preferred)
• Comfortable with call responsibilities, including evenings, nights and weekends
• Ability to complete a 12-hour orientation and adapt to variable scheduling

Education

• BSN not required (ADN or diploma acceptable); nursing degree or diploma appropriate for RN licensure

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong knowledge of GI/endoscopy procedures (EGD, colonoscopy, ERCP, sigmoidoscopy)
• Proficient in Cerner charting and electronic documentation
• Acute care nursing skills and peri-procedural patient assessment
• Bleeding control techniques and procedural assistance
• Effective communication, teamwork and patient advocacy skills
• Ability to triage and prioritize in a fast-paced procedural setting
