Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality emergency nursing care in a high-volume ED setting using triage best practices
• Assess, prioritize and manage patients efficiently in a Level 2 trauma and comprehensive stroke center
• Document patient care accurately in Cerner and maintain up-to-date boards and patient communication
• Operate and monitor equipment such as Baxter pumps and GE monitors safely and confidently
• Coach and mentor colleagues in real time; provide constructive feedback that improves team performance
• Practice AIDET and maintain respectful, clear communication with patients and families throughout the visit
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure timely, patient-centered care and smooth patient flow
• Adhere to unit staffing ratios and departmental policies while adapting to fluctuating ED demands

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) credential (position titled RN)
• Minimum 2 years’ nursing experience with at least 1 year in an Emergency Department
• 2+ years’ experience in a Level 2 trauma center, comprehensive stroke center, or a high-volume ED (>100,000 visits)
• Required certifications before start: ACLS, BLS, PALS, TNCC, CPI, NIHSS
• ENPC to be completed within 90 days of hire
• Strong teamwork mentality with the ability to coach and give feedback in real time
• Flexibility to work in all areas of the Emergency Department

Knowledge & Skills

• Triage skills and emergency assessment in a fast-paced environment
• Experience with Cerner documentation systems
• Familiarity with Baxter infusion pumps and GE patient monitors
• Competence in stroke and trauma workflows (NIHSS and trauma protocols)
• Excellent patient communication using AIDET and patient experience best practices
• Ability to work effectively in high-volume ED operations and manage complex patient loads
