Contract Type: Travel Contract

Shift Type: Primarily day shifts (typically weekdays), 6:00 AM - 6:00 PM (12-hour day shifts). Weeknight on-call coverage runs 6:30 PM - 6:00 AM (minimum 2 nights of call per 4-week schedule). Rotating weekend coverage currently every 2nd/3rd weekend; 8-hour shifts also available as needed.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert perioperative nursing care in the CVOR and general OR, ensuring patient safety and excellent outcomes
• Scrub, circulate, or assist during a broad case mix including general surgery, vascular, orthopedics, endoscopy, urology and open heart procedures
• Accurately document care and charts using Cerner to maintain excellent continuity and compliance
• Participate in the unit call rotation and respond promptly to emergent cases during on-call shifts
• Collaborate with surgical teams, tech support and charge nurses to keep 9-10 OR rooms running smoothly and efficiently
• Complete all required MyJourney modules prior to arrival to ensure a seamless orientation and immediate clinical readiness

Qualifications

• Active RN license in California required
• BLS and ACLS required prior to start
• CNOR certification preferred and encouraged
• Minimum 2 years of perioperative/OR experience, with CVOR experience strongly preferred
• Proven experience with Cerner charting required
• Prior travel assignment experience required; no first-time travelers
• Comfortable working high-volume OR days (20+ cases) and participating in call rotations

Education

• Nursing diploma, ADN or BSN accepted (BSN not required)
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• CNOR certification preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong CVOR and general OR clinical skills including scrub and circulating roles
• Proficiency with Cerner electronic charting and documentation
• Experience with cardiac and vascular surgical procedures, including open heart cases
• Ability to manage high case volumes, multitask, and prioritize in a fast-paced surgical environment
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills for collaboration with surgeons, techs and charge RN
• Flexibility to float within the OR environment (CVOR to Main OR) when needed
