Roles & Responsibilities

Provide direct patient care by implementing therapeutic procedures and modalities under the supervision of a Physical Therapist.
Assist in restoring muscle strength, range of motion, coordination and mobility using appropriate assistive devices and treatment plans.
Deliver hands-on interventions to improve body alignment, reduce pain, and enhance functional movement.
Document patient progress, treatment responses and communicate changes to the supervising Physical Therapist.
Collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team to ensure coordinated, patient-centered rehabilitation.
Educate patients and their families about home exercises, safety strategies, and strategies to maintain progress between visits.

Qualifications

Licensed Physical Therapist Assistant (LPTA)
Valid California license to practice as a Physical Therapist Assistant
Graduated from an approved Physical Therapy Assistant Program
Practice in accordance with the California State Practice Act and under PT supervision

Education

Graduated from an approved Physical Therapy Assistant Program

Knowledge & Skills

Therapeutic procedures and clinical modalities
Use of assistive devices and mobility aids
Muscle strength restoration techniques
Range of motion (ROM) assessment and intervention
Coordination and balance training
Pain management strategies
Patient assessment and documentation
Patient and family education
Professional communication and teamwork
Safety-focused care and body mechanics
