Roles & Responsibilities

Assess and monitor progressive care patients, recognizing changes in clinical status and initiating timely interventions
Operate and manage advanced medical equipment including ventilators, arterial and central lines, chest tubes, and multiple IV pumps
Interpret telemetry and EKG monitoring to guide patient care and escalate concerns to providers when needed
Provide direct care from admission through discharge, including comprehensive discharge planning and care coordination
Deliver focused care for a wide variety of patient populations (cardiac, pulmonary, renal, surgical, pediatric as applicable)
Serve as a clinical leader on the unit, providing direction to RNs, LPNs, CNAs and support staff
Precept and mentor new staff and students, supporting competency and professional development
Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to achieve positive patient outcomes and smooth transitions of care

Qualifications

Current Montana RN licensure required
BLS, ACLS, and PALS required or must be obtained within 6 months of hire
Practice experience in an advanced medical/surgical unit with recent Progressive Care or Critical Care experience required
EPNC and TNCC certifications preferred
Comfortable providing care to pediatric patients and a broad adult medical/surgical population

Education

Degree from a Nursing Program

Knowledge & Skills

Telemetry monitoring and EKG interpretation
Ventilator support and short-term ventilation management
Management of central lines, arterial lines, chest tubes, nasogastric tubes, and continuous bladder irrigation
Proficiency with multiple IV pumps and advanced medical equipment
Strong patient assessment, critical thinking, and clinical decision-making skills
Care coordination, discharge planning, and effective interdisciplinary communication
Precepting and clinical leadership abilities
