Roles & Responsibilities

Prepare patients for nuclear medicine studies and ensure their comfort and safety throughout the procedure
Perform high-quality diagnostic nuclear medicine scans using established protocols and standards
Administer radiopharmaceuticals safely and document doses according to regulations
Operate, monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot equipment such as gamma cameras and dose calibrators
Maintain radiation safety practices and required PPE, performing surveys and logging as appropriate
Keep work areas clean and organized, report equipment issues, and coordinate with system resources for repairs
Participate in teaching and instructional activities to support colleagues and trainees
Communicate findings and procedural details clearly with radiologists, physicians, and the care team

Qualifications

Current Hawaiʻi license as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist (required)
Current BLS/HCP certification (required)
Experience with radiopharmaceutical administration and nuclear medicine physics
Comfortable working independently in a single-tech rural hospital environment
Strong communication, critical thinking, and ability to collaborate with physicians and team members
One (1) year of Nuclear Medicine experience preferred (new graduates welcome)

Education

Current Hawaiʻi license as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist
Current BLS/HCP certification

Knowledge & Skills

Patient preparation and age-appropriate patient care
Diagnostic nuclear medicine scan protocols
Radiation safety protocols and proper PPE use
Operation and troubleshooting of gamma camera, dose calibrator, survey meter, well counter, thyroid uptake probe
Accurate documentation and communication with radiologists/physicians
Basic computer skills for imaging systems and reporting
