Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, and grooming with dignity and respect
• Provide compassionate personal care and emotional support to geriatric residents
• Support safe transfers and mobility assistance to reduce fall risk
• Observe and report changes in resident condition to nursing staff promptly
• Document care provided and maintain accurate resident records
• Help create a warm, engaging environment that promotes resident comfort and independence
• Collaborate with the care team to implement individualized care plans

Qualifications

• GNA certification (Class: GNA) — required
• Completion of a state-approved nurse assistant training program
• Current basic life support (BLS/CPR) preferred or willing to obtain
• Comfort working in long-term care or geriatric settings; compassion and patience are essential
• Good communication skills and ability to follow care plans and directions
• Ability to pass facility background checks and required health screenings

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Completion of a nurse aide/GNA training program and certification

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of geriatric care principles and age-related needs
• Basic infection control and safe hygiene practices
• Skill in assisting with ADLs and safe transfer techniques
• Ability to observe, document, and communicate resident changes
• Time management and teamwork in a fast-paced care environment
• Respectful, person-centered approach to resident care
