Roles & Responsibilities
- Evaluate speech, language, cognitive-communication and swallowing function using evidence-based assessments
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans to improve communication and swallowing outcomes
- Deliver engaging, person-centered therapy sessions and adapt approaches based on progress
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to coordinate comprehensive rehab plans
- Document treatment, progress, and discharge planning clearly and timely in the medical record
- Educate patients, families and caregivers on strategies to support carryover and safety
- Participate in team meetings and contribute clinical expertise to optimize patient outcomes
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology (required)
- Maryland state licensure or eligibility to obtain licensure (required)
- ASHA CCC-SLP preferred or actively pursuing certification
- Demonstrated experience in medical/rehabilitation settings preferred (inpatient/outpatient experience a plus)
- Current BLS/CPR certification or willingness to obtain
- Strong interpersonal and documentation skills, with a patient-centered approach
Education
- Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology (required)
- ASHA CCC-SLP (preferred)
Knowledge & Skills
- Assessment and treatment of dysphagia and swallowing disorders
- Management of neurogenic communication and cognitive-communication impairments
- Familiarity with evidence-based therapy techniques and outcome measurement
- Ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary rehab team
- Comfortable using electronic health records for documentation and communication
- Strong communication skills with patients, families and clinical colleagues
