Roles & Responsibilities
- Perform blood draws, administer injections and child immunizations, and conduct lab tests within MA scope
- Take and record vital signs (blood pressure, pulse, temperature, respiration) and prepare patients for exams
- Assist physicians during examinations and clinical procedures with attentive, patient-centered support
- Maintain clean, stocked exam rooms and ensure supplies are available when needed
- Handle patient communications and return calls as directed by the physician, delivering clear instructions
- Prepare and manage medical record documentation, including referral forms and lab slips
- Requisition supplies and help manage inventory to keep the clinic running smoothly
- Assist patients to and from exam rooms and provide compassionate support during procedures
- Collaborate with nursing and clinical leadership to assist with nursing procedures as directed
- Work as a flexible, team-oriented member of the clinic, upholding confidentiality and professional standards
Qualifications
- Current Medical Assistant certification (must maintain certification) — required
- Completion of a formal Medical Assistant curriculum (minimum 2 years) — required
- At least 3 years of demonstrated clinical experience as a Medical Assistant in a medical setting — required
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (AHA) — required
- LPN candidates are accepted for this role
- Ability to pass required documentation checks as requested by the employer
Education
- Completion of a formal Medical Assistant program (minimum 2 years)
Knowledge & Skills
- Phlebotomy and blood draw proficiency
- Administration of injections and routine immunizations
- Accurate vital signs collection and patient assessment basics
- Medical record/documentation and completion of referral/lab paperwork
- Strong patient communication and bedside manner, especially in behavioral health settings
- Teamwork and flexibility in a busy outpatient/orthopedics environment
- Basic clinical assistance skills to support physicians and nursing staff
- Supply management and clinic room stocking procedures
