Roles & Responsibilities
- Assist with post-surgery follow-up visits and minor in-office procedures to support patient recovery
- Schedule and coordinate nurse visits for phlebotomy, testing, and treatments to keep clinic flow smooth
- Administer immunizations, injections, and oral medications accurately and safely
- Collect, label, and prepare specimens and designated lab work for timely pick-up
- Manage clinic telephone triage and communications with provider input to ensure excellent patient experience
- Cover LVN/MA duties when needed to maintain continuity of care during absences and breaks
- Set up and assist with procedures (casting, sutures, sterile trays) and support clinicians in specialty care
Qualifications
- Active CA RN license (no temporary or pending licenses accepted)
- BLS certification from AHA or ARC (required)
- Flu vaccination required (no exemptions or declinations)
- Minimum 1 year experience in an outpatient clinic/ambulatory setting
- Strong orthopedics experience, comfortable with hand and upper-extremity conditions
- Comfortable floating within scope to meet facility needs and covering LVN/MA tasks
Knowledge & Skills
- Medication administration including intramuscular and intravenous infusions
- Phlebotomy, venipuncture, specimen collection and labeling
- Patient assessment, pain assessment, and interpretation of basic lab results
- Starting IVs and IV management
- Orthopedic skills: apply splints, assist with fractures/dislocations, casting, suture removal
- Epic charting experience for accurate, timely documentation
- Infection control, biohazard disposal, universal precautions, and patient teaching
