Roles & Responsibilities
- Evaluate and assess speech, language, cognitive-communication, and swallowing function for patients in a rehab setting
- Design and implement individualized treatment plans that promote patient progress and functional outcomes
- Collaborate closely with interdisciplinary teams (PT/OT, nursing, physicians) to coordinate patient care
- Document evaluations, progress notes, and discharge summaries accurately and on time
- Provide caregiver and family education to support continuity of care after discharge
- Participate in team meetings to set goals, track outcomes, and refine therapy approaches
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology or equivalent
- Active California SLP license (or ability to obtain prior to start)
- ASHA CCC-SLP preferred but not required — strong clinical skills are essential
- Experience in inpatient rehabilitation, acute care, or similar settings preferred
- Strong documentation skills and familiarity with standard clinical assessment tools
- Ability to pass background checks and meet facility credentialing requirements
Education
- Master of Science (M.S.) or Master of Arts (M.A.) in Speech-Language Pathology or equivalent
Knowledge & Skills
- Skilled in assessment and treatment of dysphagia and cognitive-communication disorders
- Knowledge of evidence-based therapy techniques and standardized assessment tools
- Comfortable working within an interdisciplinary rehab team
- Strong clinical reasoning, time management, and patient-centered communication
- Proficient with clinical documentation systems and outcome tracking
