Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate respiratory care and treatment for patients with respiratory and cardiac illness
- Perform ventilator management and continuously monitor patients on ventilatory support
- Assess patients’ physical and mental status and apply clinical judgment to guide care
- Deliver care for COPD, asthma, interstitial lung disease and other pulmonary conditions
- Participate in DNV program education and integrate regulatory standards into daily practice
- Multitask effectively and anticipate patient and staff needs in a dynamic clinical environment
- Conduct group class instruction and patient education when required
- Support hospital mission, policies, and participate in required trainings and other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Current Oregon RT License (required)
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential (required)
- Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program (required)
- CRASE training preferred; required if assignment extends beyond 6 months
- Comfortable floating to other departments and delivering care across patient populations
- Strong communication, problem solving, and teamwork skills
Education
- Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program
Knowledge & Skills
- Ventilator management and ventilatory support monitoring
- Patient monitoring and assessment for respiratory and cardiopulmonary symptoms
- Care for COPD, asthma, interstitial lung disease and other pulmonary diseases
- Familiarity with DNV regulatory standards and patient safety goals
- Ability to perform clinical, clerical, and interpersonal duties efficiently
- Group class instruction and patient education skills
- Multitasking and prioritization in fast-paced clinical settings
