Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide expert nursing care within the RN scope of practice for patients undergoing cardiac catheterization, peripheral vascular and electrophysiology studies
- Teach patients and significant others to ensure understanding and promote better outcomes
- Document patient care accurately in the medical record and maintain regulatory-compliant records
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary and intra-procedure teams to coordinate safe, efficient patient care
- Serve as a lead worker and resource — mentor staff and help maximize team capabilities
- Prepare patients, equipment and procedural rooms; assist with patient identification, site marking, preparation and sterile draping
- Maintain, calibrate and troubleshoot specialized equipment; instruct technologists in proper operation
- Identify process improvements, implement changes with leadership, and monitor outcomes to improve patient experience and departmental performance
- Stay current with advances in cardiovascular technology and integrate new knowledge into practice
- Ensure compliance with applicable rules, regulations and accreditation standards
Qualifications
- Registered Nurse (RN) credential required
- Oregon state RN license required (license does not need to be active at submission but candidate must be willing to obtain)
- ACLS (AHA) required
- BLS (AHA) required
- Acute care hospital experience within the past 5 years required
- Experience with cardiac catheterization, peripheral vascular studies and/or electrophysiology studies preferred
- Comfort leading staff, reading physician orders/protocols and communicating with providers
- Willingness to maintain certifications and participate in continuing professional development
- Resume and discipline-specific Skills Checklist required for submission
Education
- Graduation from an accredited nursing program (ASN/BSN or equivalent) and RN licensure
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong command of the nursing process and patient-centered care
- Excellent patient education and communication skills
- Competence in patient documentation and medical record management
- Interdisciplinary collaboration and team-based care
- Universal Protocol and site marking adherence
- Sterile technique, draping and procedural preparation
- Equipment maintenance, calibration and troubleshooting
- Quality/process improvement and regulatory/compliance awareness
- Ability to train and instruct technologists and act as a clinical resource
