Roles & Responsibilities
- Operate CT scanners to produce high-quality cross-sectional images for diagnosis across all age groups
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care from adolescents to geriatrics with compassion and clinical excellence
- Perform contrast media preparation and administration safely following facility protocols
- Start peripheral IVs when required for contrast administration
- Provide rapid, trauma-informed imaging in a very busy Level I trauma and tertiary care emergency department
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary teams to prioritize cases such as stroke and acute trauma
- Maintain accurate imaging documentation and support patient throughput (typical case load ~18–23 patients/shift)
- Adhere to infection control and vaccine policies (facility flu vaccine required; COVID-19 vaccine not required per facility guideline)
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years CT tech experience required; 3 years preferred
- Hard requirement: Level I Trauma experience and Stroke experience
- California state radiologic technologist license required (no pending licenses accepted)
- ARRT (R) and ARRT CT certifications required
- BLS certification required; Fluoro Permit preferred
- Teaching hospital experience required; community hospital experience preferred
- Experience with GE and/or Canon CT scanners highly preferred
- Comfort with pediatric and adult acute care settings (PICU/NICU/Adult ICU experience a plus)
Education
- Associate's degree in Radiologic Technology or related field preferred
- ARRT (R) and CT certification required
- State licensure (California) required
- BLS certification required
Knowledge & Skills
- CT imaging fundamentals and cross-sectional anatomy
- Preparation and administration of contrast media
- Starting peripheral IVs for contrast injection
- Advanced CT procedures: vascular CTA, brain perfusion, CT arthrography, myelography, biopsies and aspirations
- PACS operation and image management
- Trauma and stroke protocols in a high-acuity ED/Level I trauma environment
- Ability to manage a heavy case load (≈18–23 patients per 12-hour shift) with speed and accuracy
- Experience with GE, Canon/Toshiba CT platforms and related workflow nuances
