Roles & Responsibilities
- Dispense and prepare medications accurately under pharmacist supervision
- Process medication orders and maintain accurate patient medication records
- Manage inventory, restock supplies, and support controlled substance tracking
- Assist pharmacists with compounding, labeling, and packaging duties as needed
- Communicate clearly with clinical staff to ensure timely medication delivery
- Follow all facility policies and security protocols at ISP - Ironwood State Prison
- Participate in training and the two-week orientation to learn site-specific workflows
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED (see education section for details)
- Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) or state pharmacy technician registration preferred
- Previous pharmacy technician experience in a clinical or institutional setting preferred
- Familiarity with medication dispensing processes, inventory control, and unit-dose systems
- Strong attention to detail, reliability, and ability to work in a secure facility environment
- Ability to pass background checks and meet facility onboarding requirements
Education
- High school diploma or GED required
- Pharmacy Technician certificate or formal training preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Medication dispensing and labeling best practices
- Familiarity with pharmacy information systems and electronic medication records
- Inventory management and controlled substance handling
- Basic compounding and sterile/non-sterile preparation workflows
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Strong organizational skills and attention to accuracy
