Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care and support within the correctional training facility environment
- Perform clinical tasks such as taking vital signs, assisting with exams, and basic wound care
- Document patient encounters and observations accurately in the charting system
- Communicate clearly with custody staff and the clinical team to ensure safe patient movement and care
- Follow infection control and safety protocols to protect patients and staff
- Participate in required orientation and ongoing training to maintain competency
Qualifications
- Certified Medical Assistant (MA) required; Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) accepted if MA not available
- Current BLS/CPR certification or willingness to obtain during orientation
- Valid California certification/license as applicable
- Comfortable working in a correctional facility setting and following facility-specific protocols
- Ability to complete required facility orientation and clearance processes
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred or CNA training accepted
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong patient care skills and attention to detail
- Proficient with taking and recording vital signs
- Clear, professional communication with patients, clinical staff, and custody personnel
- Basic clinical documentation and charting skills
- Knowledge of infection control and safety procedures
