Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care under the clinical supervision of a Physical Therapist using therapeutic procedures and modalities
- Assist patients with range of motion, mobility training, strength restoration and pain management
- Use assistive devices safely and effectively to help patients regain independence
- Document patient progress clearly and timely in accordance with facility protocols
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to implement and adapt treatment plans
- Educate patients and their families on home programs and strategies to improve function
Qualifications
- Valid California license to practice as a Physical Therapist Assistant (LPTA)
- Graduated from an approved Physical Therapy Assistant program
- Ability to practice in accordance with the California State Practice Act
- Strong communication skills and a patient-centered approach
- Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or required per facility policy
Education
- Graduated from an approved Physical Therapy Assistant Program
Knowledge & Skills
- Patient care and therapeutic procedures with a focus on function and mobility
- Therapeutic modalities and pain management strategies
- Use of assistive devices and safe patient handling techniques
- Range of motion (ROM) assessment and mobility training
- Strength restoration techniques and progressions
- Clinical documentation and teamwork in a multidisciplinary setting
