Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care under the clinical supervision of a Physical Therapist using therapeutic procedures and modalities
• Assist patients with range of motion, mobility training, strength restoration and pain management
• Use assistive devices safely and effectively to help patients regain independence
• Document patient progress clearly and timely in accordance with facility protocols
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to implement and adapt treatment plans
• Educate patients and their families on home programs and strategies to improve function

Qualifications

• Valid California license to practice as a Physical Therapist Assistant (LPTA)
• Graduated from an approved Physical Therapy Assistant program
• Ability to practice in accordance with the California State Practice Act
• Strong communication skills and a patient-centered approach
• Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or required per facility policy

Education

• Graduated from an approved Physical Therapy Assistant Program

Knowledge & Skills

• Patient care and therapeutic procedures with a focus on function and mobility
• Therapeutic modalities and pain management strategies
• Use of assistive devices and safe patient handling techniques
• Range of motion (ROM) assessment and mobility training
• Strength restoration techniques and progressions
• Clinical documentation and teamwork in a multidisciplinary setting
