Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver patient-centered therapeutic treatments that help restore mobility and independence
• Assist the licensed Physical Therapist with exercise programs, gait training, and functional activities
• Document patient progress and update care plans accurately in the medical record
• Collaborate with nurses, therapists, and caregivers to coordinate high-quality rehabilitation
• Educate patients and families on home programs, safety, and adaptive strategies
• Ensure safe use and maintenance of therapy equipment and assistive devices
• Contribute to discharge planning and smooth transitions of care

Qualifications

• Licensed Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) in New Jersey, or eligible for NJ licensure
• Graduate of an accredited PTA program (Associate degree typical)
• Current BLS/CPR certification (or willing to obtain prior to start)
• Hands-on experience in physical therapy, patient care, and rehabilitation (experience with adult rehab preferred)
• Strong communication skills and a team-first attitude
• Ability to work weekend coverage and a schedule that includes all days of the week

Education

• Associate degree from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program
• Completion of state-required PTA licensure/registration

Knowledge & Skills

• Patient assessment fundamentals and safe transfer/gait assistance
• Therapeutic exercise prescription and progression
• Familiarity with common rehab modalities and assistive devices
• Clinical documentation and electronic medical record (EMR) proficiency
• Effective patient and family education techniques
• Strong teamwork, time management, and clinical problem-solving
