Roles & Responsibilities
- Carry out treatment plans established by the supervising PT to help patients regain mobility and independence
- Provide therapeutic exercises, gait training, balance activities, and appropriate modalities
- Observe, document, and report patient performance, progress, and concerns to the PT
- Educate patients and families on therapy goals and home exercise programs to support recovery outside the clinic
- Maintain accurate, compliant documentation in line with state, federal, and company guidelines
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary staff to support patient-centered outcomes in the skilled nursing setting
Qualifications
- Active and current Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) license in California (required)
- Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program
- Previous experience working in a skilled nursing facility (SNF) is required
- Strong clinical and communication skills with the ability to follow established treatment plans
- Competent in documentation and regulatory compliance related to therapy services
- Comfortable working under the supervision of a licensed PT and as part of a care team
Education
- Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program
Knowledge & Skills
- Hands-on knowledge of therapeutic exercise techniques and gait training
- Familiarity with balance training and common physical modalities
- Skill in patient and family education for home exercise programs
- Ability to assess and report patient progress clearly and professionally
- Good time management and documentation accuracy
- Team-oriented communication and collaboration skills
