Roles & Responsibilities
- Carry out treatment plans established by the supervising PT, delivering hands-on care that helps patients regain independence
- Provide therapeutic exercises, gait training, balance activities, and appropriate modalities to improve function
- Observe, document, and report patient performance and progress to the supervising PT to ensure excellent outcomes
- Educate patients and families on therapy goals and home exercise programs to extend care beyond sessions
- Maintain accurate documentation in compliance with state, federal, and company guidelines to protect patients and providers
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary staff to support coordinated, person-centered care
Qualifications
- Active and current Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) license in California (required)
- Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program
- Previous experience in a Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) required
- Strong clinical judgment and excellent communication skills
- Ability to follow treatment plans and provide high-quality patient care with accurate documentation
Education
- Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program
Knowledge & Skills
- Therapeutic exercise prescription, gait training, and balance interventions
- Use of modalities appropriate to patient needs
- Patient and family education and creation of home exercise programs
- Accurate clinical documentation and knowledge of compliance expectations
- Interdisciplinary teamwork and effective communication with nursing and therapy staff
- Ability to observe, assess, and clearly report patient progress
