Roles & Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate the NICU team during night shifts to ensure safe, high-quality neonatal care
• Triage and assign patients, balancing acuity and staff skill sets for optimal outcomes
• Provide direct, hands-on neonatal nursing when needed and step in for critical interventions
• Mentor and support bedside staff with clinical guidance, coaching, and performance feedback
• Facilitate clear communication across multidisciplinary teams, including physicians, respiratory therapy, and families
• Maintain accurate documentation, unit logs, and regulatory compliance during your shift
• Manage unit flow, bed assignments, and resource allocation to keep the NICU running smoothly
• Act as a clinical escalation point for bedside nurses and participate in emergency response as required

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license and verification of licensure
• Demonstrated NICU clinical experience - must have neonatal care background
• Proven leadership or charge nurse experience in a critical care or neonatal setting
• Current BLS certification
• DCI/BVP certification as required by the facility
• Successful completion of Prime Core Competencies Exam, Prime Skills Checklist, and Prime Specialty Exam as part of onboarding
• Completion of required health screenings and immunizations including COVID-19, MMR, TB testing, Hepatitis B, Influenza, Varicella, Tdap, and drug screening

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong neonatal assessment and critical care skills
• Ability to lead, delegate, and mentor a diverse clinical team
• Excellent clinical judgment and ability to prioritize in high-acuity situations
• Clear, compassionate communication with families and the care team
• Familiarity with unit operations, patient flow, and charge nurse responsibilities
• Proficient documentation and adherence to clinical protocols and safety practices
