Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, compassionate nursing care for PCU patients during night shifts
• Monitor and assess patient status using vital signs, telemetry, and clinical judgment
• Administer medications and IV therapies safely and accurately
• Collaborate with physicians and the interdisciplinary team to develop and implement patient plans
• Respond swiftly to changes in patient condition and assist in emergency situations
• Educate patients and families about diagnosis, treatment and discharge plans
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation in the medical record to support continuity of care
• Champion patient safety, infection control, and evidence-based practice on every shift

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license — state-specific licensure required for practice
• Minimum 1 year of recent RN experience (PCU or progressive care/telemetry experience preferred)
• BLS (Basic Life Support) required; ACLS preferred
• Current CPR certification
• Demonstrated ability to work independently on night shift and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team
• Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and prioritization skills

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN)

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry monitoring and interpretation
• Proficient patient assessment and early recognition of clinical deterioration
• IV therapy, medication administration, and route safety
• Clear, compassionate communication with patients, families, and team members
• Accurate electronic documentation and time management
• Ability to follow protocols, escalate concerns, and contribute to quality improvement
