Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, evidence-based nursing care to oncology and women's surgical patients
• Administer medications and manage IV infusions safely, following hospital protocols
• Monitor patient status, identify changes, and communicate concerns to the interdisciplinary team
• Assist with procedures typical to the unit (e.g., occasional pelvic exams, echo support, thoracentesis assistance)
• Document care accurately in Cerner and maintain clear handoffs at shift change
• Collaborate with colleagues to maintain appropriate patient ratios (typically 1:4 or 1:5) and ensure high-quality care

Qualifications

• Active RN license (required) — candidates must hold appropriate nursing licensure
• BLS certification (required)
• Minimum 2 years of clinical nursing experience (oncology or med-surg experience preferred)
• Chemo certification preferred (candidates with this will be considered first)
• Experience with Cerner or comparable EMR systems
• Comfort working nights and the required weekend coverage; team-player attitude and a willingness to learn

Knowledge & Skills

• Oncology nursing fundamentals and safe chemotherapy handling (preferred)
• Med-surg skills and ability to care for complex patients
• Proficiency with Cerner EMR for documentation and order management
• IV therapy and infusion management
• Ability to assist with and understand procedures such as echoes and thoracentesis
• Strong communication, critical thinking, and teamwork skills
