Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide safe, compassionate nursing care for neuro medical/surgical patients on a 30-bed unit
• Assess patient condition and implement individualized care plans focused on stroke and neuro needs
• Administer medications, manage IVs, and monitor telemetry and EEG results as needed
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including physicians, therapists, and techs to optimize outcomes
• Document patient care accurately in Meditech EMR to ensure continuity and compliance
• Educate patients and families on condition management, wound care, and discharge planning

Qualifications

• Active RN license (or compact RN license) with at least 1 year of recent Med/Surg experience
• BLS required; ACLS preferred
• IV certification (as applicable) and comfort with 12-hour shift patterns
• Familiarity with NIH Stroke Scale and stroke care protocols
• Experience with Meditech EMR, EEG monitoring, and wound care procedures
• Team-oriented, self-motivated, and comfortable working in a fast-paced neuro unit

Knowledge & Skills

• Meditech EMR proficiency for accurate charting and med administration
• Stroke recognition and NIH Stroke Scale competency
• Neuro medical/surgical nursing skills including EEG and neuro monitoring
• Wound care and gastric decompression familiarity
• Strong clinical assessment, prioritization, and patient advocacy abilities
• Comfort working in a team-based, protocol-driven environment
