Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, high-quality Med/Surg nursing care to adult patients during night shifts
• Assess patient status, develop and update plan of care, and document assessments and interventions accurately
• Administer medications and treatments safely, following hospital policies and Prime competency expectations
• Monitor cardiac/neurologic status and perform timely interventions including NIHSS and rhythm interpretation when required
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to coordinate patient care and safe transitions
• Respond effectively to emergencies and escalate concerns to charge nurses or providers as needed
• Support patient and family education, discharge planning, and continuity of care

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse credential (RN) with license verification via Nursys or state board
• BLS required; ACLS and NIHSS preferred/required as listed
• Completion of Prime competency exams and skills checklist per facility requirements
• Current fit test and required immunizations/health screenings (COVID-19, MMR, Hepatitis B, Influenza, TB/PPD, Varicella, Tdap)
• Successful background and drug screening (minimum 10-panel) and health statement
• Comfort working independently on night shift in a fast-paced Med/Surg environment
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with care teams

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid Med/Surg clinical assessment and care planning
• Medication administration and basic pharmacology knowledge
• Cardiac monitoring and rhythm interpretation fundamentals
• Familiarity with stroke assessment tools (NIHSS)
• Proficiency with electronic medical records and accurate documentation
• Infection control and safe patient handling practices
• Ability to prioritize, triage, and respond during night-shift workflows
• Teamwork, critical thinking, and patient-centered communication
