Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess and stabilize patients rapidly in a busy emergency department environment
• Perform and assist with procedures such as IV insertion, Foley catheter placement, lumbar puncture, and central line care
• Monitor cardiac status and perform/interpret EKGs and assist with cardioversion when needed
• Administer moderate sedation and provide ventilator management for critically ill patients
• Use teleneuro resources and EMR Level 3 for thorough documentation and coordinated care
• Collaborate with physicians, techs, and support staff to maintain safe patient ratios and efficient throughput
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments, and follow-up plans
• Escalate changes in condition and participate in unit-based quality and safety initiatives

Qualifications

• Active RN licensure (eligible to practice in Texas)
• Minimum 1 year of Emergency Department nursing experience (per job details)
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, and PALS or ENPC, TNCC
• Comfortable with and competent in IV insertion, EKG, central line care, moderate sedation, and cardioversion
• Experience with ventilator management and teleneuro is highly valued
• Ability to work night shifts and the required weekend schedule
• Willingness to follow unit dress code (cobalt/royal blue scrubs) and unit policies

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN preferred)

Knowledge & Skills

• Emergency nursing best practices and fast-paced triage skills
• IV insertion, EKG acquisition and interpretation
• Central line care, Foley insertion, and lumbar puncture support
• Moderate sedation and cardioversion procedures
• Ventilator management and critical care monitoring
• Experience with teleneuro consults and EMR Level 3 documentation
• Strong teamwork, communication, and patient education skills
