Roles & Responsibilities

• Monitor laboring patients and perform continuous fetal heart monitoring to promote safe deliveries
• Provide skilled neonatal resuscitation when needed and support immediate newborn care
• Collaborate closely with obstetricians, midwives, and neonatal teams to coordinate excellent patient outcomes
• Perform thorough assessments, timely interventions, and accurate documentation for every patient encounter
• Educate and support birthing people and their families through labor, delivery, and postpartum care
• Participate in unit competency testing and skills checklists to maintain high standards of care

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (state of practice required) — license verification will be completed
• BLS (Basic Life Support) required
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) required
• AWHONN Fetal Heart Monitoring certification required
• Completion of Trinity Specialty Specific Competency Testing and Trinity Skills Checklist
• Required health screenings and immunizations: fit test, drug screen, color vision, COVID-19 vaccine, MMR, Hepatitis B, influenza, TB screening (2-step PPD or IGRA), Varicella, and a current physical/health statement

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
• Active RN license required

Knowledge & Skills

• Labor & Delivery best practices and maternal-fetal assessment
• Continuous fetal heart monitoring interpretation and troubleshooting
• Neonatal resuscitation and immediate newborn stabilization
• Strong clinical judgment, rapid prioritization, and emergency response skills
• Clear communication with interdisciplinary teams and compassionate patient education
• Accurate clinical documentation and adherence to unit competency standards
