Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, high-quality nursing care to med-surg patients on a 34-bed unit
• Administer IV therapy, monitor wound care, and assist with dialysis-related needs
• Safely operate and monitor PCA pumps and perform safe patient transfers using Hoyer lifts
• Use Meditech EMR to document patient care accurately and communicate with the care team
• Support virtual monitoring systems such as CareView and coordinate Telepsych/Teleneuro consults
• Collaborate with RNs, PCTs and unit leadership to maintain patient ratios and ensure continuity of care
• Maintain professional standards including Navy scrub dress code and unit policies

Qualifications

• Active LVN/LPN license (Texas) in good standing
• BLS required (must-have)
• IV Certification for LVNs (required)
• Minimum 1 year of relevant med-surg LVN/LPN experience
• ACLS and NIH stroke scale certification preferred
• Comfortable with 12-hour night shifts and working weekends as needed
• Ability to safely assist with patient transfers (experience with Hoyer lifts preferred)

Education

• LPN/LVN diploma or certificate (or equivalent) required

Knowledge & Skills

• Meditech EMR proficiency
• IV therapy and IV certification skills
• Wound care and post-procedure monitoring (CBI, gastric decompression familiarity)
• Dialysis basics and related patient monitoring
• Experience with PCA pumps and vital sign monitoring equipment (Welch Allyn, COWs)
• Familiarity with virtual monitoring tools such as CareView and Telepsych/Teleneuro workflows
• Strong teamwork, communication, and patient advocacy skills
